That same day King Xerxes gave Queen Esther the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came into the presence of the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her. The king took off his signet ring, which he had reclaimed from Haman, and presented it to Mordecai. And Esther appointed him over Haman’s estate.

–Parallel verses:
‭‭II Samuel‬ ‭22‬:‭26‬-‭29‬ ‭
To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd. You save the humble, but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them low. You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.

The above parallel verses were sung by David when God delivered him from his enemies and from Saul who hunted him to kill him for years.

What King David said, Mordecai and Esther found to be true. God was faithful, he was blameless, he was pure, and he was shrewd.

At times in life, it is tempting to blame God for the circumstances we find ourselves in, or to say he cannot be good because he allowed the seemingly unbearable to happen. David could have clearly done this, as he was only kind to Saul, but Saul hated him and hunted him. Mordecai could have shook his fist at God for allowing Haman to rise to power, that evil man bent on genocide of the Jews. Esther could have blamed God for her forced submission into King Xerxes’ harem. But instead, they all relied upon the true nature of God’s character and trusted him. And they were all rewarded beyond their wildest dreams. Esther became rich, Mordecai became powerful, and David a great king. Mordecai and Esther were rewarded by God through King Xerxes for their faithfulness to him.

Truly God is our lamp and he does turn our darkness into light! He is faithful and he always comes through for his children.

How can I trust you more, Lord? Teach me to stand firm and stay confident in you and your good plans for me! You are faithful, blameless, pure, and shrewd! I will wait on you.
