Our Worldview Shapes Our Receptivity to Jesus - ‭‭Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬, ‭15‬

As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.
Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.

There are a few different views on the origins of how we got here and what our purpose is in life: 1) We evolved from nothing and have no specific purpose. 2) There is a God, but he just deals with big decisions and does not get involved or care as much about the details or personal issues we have in life. 3) God created us, he designed us to be unique. He has a plan for our lives individually, that involves interacting with him to gain his good character and act in his ways. He loves us and knows all the intimate details of how we are wired and what we need in the moments.

I believe in #3. But those who take the approach of #1 & #2, live lives with these beliefs on display. And the Bible tells us that these beliefs are not true, but lies and falsehood. So those who ignore the Bible are deceived and highly susceptible to manipulation and further deception by the Devil.

This is why these people can hear the Word of God, and though it is true, they can be easily talked out of following the truth. The Devil has blinded them and they have, in most cases, chosen to be blinded (I am not including children or those incapable of rational thought here). In essence, our worldview shapes our receptivity to Jesus.

But what if someone has never heard about Jesus or never grew up around those who follow him? The Bible is clear on this: “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” (‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬-‭20‬)

With this said, I am compelled to share the truth about Jesus and to plead with as many as possible to hear and receive the Word of God that is planted in them.

Lord, I pray for those in my family and those friends of mine that you have made yourself clear to but who have chosen to follow a self-made path to destruction. They are, in many cases, deceived. May you open their eyes and allow them to clearly see and grasp and hold tightly to the truth about Jesus. And may they surrender their hearts and their lives to you and be saved. May you use me and my family and resources to bring as many new souls into your saving grace as possible. Thank you for your truth and love!
