Worried? Then Prioritize Up!‭‭ - Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭31‬-‭34‬

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

When we worry, we lack a purpose and cannot focus in life. Or our purpose and focus is not righteous.

So I often am reminded of this passage that helps me focus my attention based on the right priorities.

First, seek after the things that will build God’s kingdom and spread his righteousness to a fallen world. Discard my selfish priorities and confess them to God. Then refocus on God’s priorities.

Jesus also has a pattern prayer he taught his disciples called the Lord’s Prayer. And in the middle of this prayer we find: “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done, on earth as it is in Heaven”.  It is a similar refocus, as this part of the prayer comes before “give us this day our daily bread”.

When I stop worrying about my needs, and prioritize up God’s Kingdom work and his righteousness in my life, then I will be greatly blessed. It says here that all of these things will be added to you!

Lord, thank you for your truth which drives me to seek you first. Help me to stay focused primarily on your Kingdom activities and your righteous acts. Then I will be fulfilled and made whole in you.
