I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant, ‘I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’ ”
The heavens praise your wonders, Lord, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord? Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings? In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him. Who is like you, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.”
When I was growing up as a kid and even into my college years, the US had a policy of giving certain nations “Most Favored Nation” status. England had this status. And for good reason. They were true partners with us in trade, commerce, and defense.
To gain “most favored nation” status, it is not enough to be faithful when everyone’s watching. A nation must have the other nation’s best interest in mind when no one is watching. They do things behind the scenes to benefit the other.
As we look at the faithfulness of God, it reminds me of friends that are faithful. Some are faithful for a time, but fall away when life gets hard or the fun trips together are no longer affordable. But there are some friends that stick with you through thick and thin. They’re seemingly always looking for ways that they can help you and benefit you. They are truly faithful.
And above these faithful friends, it’s a very, very, incredibly faithful God! I would say that God has my Most Faithful Friend status. He has been faithful to me my whole life. He has been faithful to my friends. He has been faithful to my family, and he will continue to remain faithful through to the end. His faithfulness does not rely on other people’s faithfulness. Because his word is his bond, and his bond is incredibly strong!
Are you looking for a faithful friend? God’s the only one who is always faithful. And those who have a good heart, and follow God, gain his ability to be faithful friends, as well. So we should look for true God followers in searching for faithful friends.
Lord, thank you for being my Most Faithful Friend. You are also my Magnificent and Almighty God. I don’t fully understand how you can be both at the same time, but somehow you are and I love you for it. Thank you for sticking with me when I wasn’t faithful, and didn’t deserve your love. Teach me to be faithful like you are faithful.
