Humble and Simple is the Strategy: Be Yoked to Jesus‭‭ - Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬-‭30‬

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

“You don’t know what you don’t know.”
As I have lived, coached, and mentored in business and in life, it is interesting how many times this statement has come to mind. When I was a younger man I used to look at parents with judgment, thinking if they would just parent better their kids would turn out better. As with all misconceptions, there was some truth to it. Many parents refuse to discipline their kids and, in turn, reap those rewards. However, there are also many situations where they are not able to change the circumstance they are in.

As I have gotten older I now realize sometimes it pays to “know what you don’t know” and give grace.

When Jesus came to earth, he submitted himself to the will of God. God does not reveal his plans to those who consider themselves super-wise and learned. He chooses to use the humble, those reliant on him for their strength. God is revealed to us through Jesus. There is no end-around in this process. Full surrender is required.

And when we surrender in humility, we draw close to him and he helps us in our times of need. When we are weary, he gives us a grant of rest. When the load seems too much by ourselves, he comes along and says, “Yoke up to me!” And when we do yoke up to Jesus, it’s like having a T-Rex as a partner in carrying the load, Jesus does 99% of the work.
