Am I Ready for Deeper Truths? - Matthew 13:11-17

He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:  ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’
But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

In life, as leaders of companies, families, and service organizations, we share knowledge and wisdom with some more than others. This teaching of Jesus comes to mind: “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬) We make choices as to who we share the deeper level info with, based upon trust and maturity.

I run a business and I will tell people about my business in general. However, there are a few who I really trust that I will share financial statements or trade secrets with.

Jesus is telling his disciples he trusts them more than the rest of the people listening to them. He is also challenging them to act on the application he is about to share.

How do I act on the truth of God’s word and the impressions he gives me? Do I take these as his trust in me, or as an inconvenience or unnecessary hurdle in life?

Reality is, some people are not ready or not willing to hear deeper level truth. Some are mere infants in the faith.

But for those of us who will hear, the truth will transform us and the challenges of God, when acted on, will build up our faith and give us incredible joy!

Lord, thank you for sharing truth and insight with me. Help me to trust you and be obedient even more. The closer I get to you the more power I have and the more opportunities I see!
