We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

I like movies where hidden passageways appear, or hidden messages can only be viewed by moonlight. There are many of these instances in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. At a certain time of day, the moonlight shines on a certain spot that has a secret handle to open a door. In one of the Indiana Jones movies, a secret stairway becomes visible only after Indiana takes a step.

It is like this with godly wisdom. The world cannot understand it. It is foreign to them. And decisions made by Christ-followers in line with God‘s will, end up being blessed by God, even though they may seem crazy.

In God’s wisdom, he sent Jesus to earth to pay the price for our sin, so that we could choose to live eternally with him. And those who crucified Jesus, if they acknowledged him as the Messiah, would never have done so. Maybe this was why Jesus tried to ask questions to get them to acknowledge him for who he was?

God sees the heart of men and their long-term motives. And his ways are at times mysterious. However, he is faithful and just. And he loves us.

Lord, thank you for this passage that talks about the mystery of your wisdom. There were times in my life where I just could not understand why certain things happened a certain way. But in your wisdom, you allow these things to happen. Help me to trust your wisdom over the wisdom of this world and help me to remain faithful.
