And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Jesus’ Characteristics:
Position: Supreme, above all in every way.
Approval Status: God is pleased with him.
Authority: The fullness of God dwells in him.
Mission: To reconcile the world and all heavenly beings to God.
Sacrifice Made to Accomplish the Mission: He died for us as a perfect, sacrificial lamb, slain on a cross. His blood was the payment for our sins.

I stand in complete awe of the amazing work that Jesus did for me, and of the love of God! All the work has been done, all the provisions have been made for me to live with God. I just need to accept this gift and surrender my heart each day.

Where in my life have I not recognized the supremacy of Jesus Christ? What parts of my thoughts, behaviors, and motives do I hold onto and keep for myself and my own selfish control?

Lord Jesus, thank you for going on this harrowing mission to save me. You sacrificed all you had: your reputation, your wealth, your power, and even your life! Thank you a thousand times over! Teach me to let go of my ways and embrace your control and leadership in my life more and more each day!
