Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Confidence is important in life. Without confidence I do not approach the right people who can help me achieve my goals and I don’t push through adversity.
With it … I am an unstoppable force for good.
Now in the past, I have had misplaced confidence. I have placed my confidence in employers or partners or people who have not delivered on their promises. And so then fear can take over and limit my confidence in others, or in employment opportunities in the future. So how do I move past disabling fear and restore the confidence in life that is healthy?
Some would lower expectations, seeking to only engage in activities that excite them, or are easy and avoid challenges. Others shrink back in surrender. Finally, others will live seemingly carefree and not realize there are consequences to actions. They take lots of risk in a shotgun approach with a false confidence because they really don’t care as much.
There is another way, however, to have RESTORED CONFIDENCE TO ACT, in a broken world with people who can be unreliable! This way is to elevate our confidence placement. We can elevate our confidence to place it in God and his Son Jesus. And this confidence will never let us down. God always delivers on his promises and has the good of his children constantly before him.
With Jesus’ sacrifice and current authority, I can confidently enter into a close relationship with God. I can be vulnerable with him. I can love him. I can cry out to him and he cares. He wants me to dwell with him, even when I have sin and shame all over me, like mud and grime on my clothes. He wants to cleanse me and make me new.
With my confidence in Jesus Christ, all the things I could fear in this world evaporate into insignificance. He is my Overriding Confidence Advantage in life.
Lord, thank you for giving me back my confidence in this life, when it was taken away from me at an early age. My confidence in you always delivers. Take me on to greater heights and new adventures in my spiritual walk with you. And lead me to opportunities each day to share the gospel and expand your kingdom.
