By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
Life was difficult being a Jew in the days of Moses' parents. They were a part of a conquered nation and were slaves to the Egyptians. Long, hard days of manual labor. Subsistence living. Unfair treatment. When Moses was born, the Pharaoh felt threatened by the Israelites. And he issued a ruthless and evil decree, that all male babies would be thrown into the river and killed.
I can’t even imagine what Moses’ parents had to endure. And still, they held onto their faith in God. They were looking for God’s hand in the midst of horrible circumstances, and they found it resting on their baby, Moses. Moses grew up and eventually led the Israelites out of Egypt. What an important role his parents played in saving him.
What role does God want me to play in setting up his plans for the next generation? How can I listen to him better, and then simply trust and obey?
Lord, thank you for the faith of Moses’ parents. Help me to be a parent who seeks you, believes in your amazing hand of redemption, and acts when it is time to act!
