By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.

--Parallel verses:
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬-‭6‬
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Moses interacted with God. He heard him speak at the burning bush. He was faithful to follow God.

Once those of us who follow God have a close experience with him, where he speaks to us or does a miracle in our lives, etc., we then are changed. We are done wondering about God’s ability to save us. Over time, we see his hand in all that happens in life. The good things he brings to us and the evil and trials that he turns for good if we let him.

Moses chose a life of loyalty to God and his fellow man over a life of luxury in the Egyptian palace. He stood up for his people, though they were mistreated. He was faithful.

And God honored him for this. He was recognized as the pillar of faith in the Jewish line.

Lord, thank you for Moses. Thank you for his sacrifice. Thank you for his faithfulness to you, and thank you that he demonstrated what it means to listen to your word, to seek after you well, to listen to your heart, and to act.
