For there is [only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and mankind, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom [a substitutionary sacrifice to atone] for all, the testimony given at the right and proper time.

A mediator is someone who works to make things right and just between two parties. As humans, we needed a mediator to approach God, because we sinned against God’s law. Since God is pure and cannot be one with sin, Jesus’ ransom in dying for our sins was the perfect sacrifice to qualify him as our mediator before God.

In court, usually mediation is conducted to try and determine a fair settlement between a plaintiff and a defendant. In the case of our mediation with God, it is a relationship mediation. God has all the power, knowledge and presence that we could ever want or need. He is willing to make access to him available to us, if we will make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Jesus is the only way to the Father. No other fancy sayings or dreamed up religions can get us to God. It’s Jesus and Jesus alone who is The Way, The Truth, and The Life (John 14:6).

The question of the ages is this: Will you embrace Jesus today and allow him to mediate for you with God the Father? Or if you’ve already done this, will you keep Jesus on the throne as Lord of your life?

Lord, thank you for this time with you. It is so rich! I pray that you’ll help me to be somebody who brings people into relationship with you, disciples them in the truth, and models for them how to love others.
