The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

Colossians‬ ‭1:15-20
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Many professional athletes hire sports agents and these agents negotiate the terms of multi-million dollar contracts for them. In fact, some of these contracts are now reaching up to a 1/3 of a billion dollars over 10 years or so. The best agent, it seems, gets the best players. And he holds the cards for them and plays them expertly to maximize the value for the player ($’s, preferred location, opportunity to play in the post-season, etc.). It can seem that he holds all things relative to this player and their career in his hands for a little while.

In reality, there are so many variables, no one earthly person can really hold much in their hands. The devil, when he tempted Jesus in the desert, bragged about having control of all things, but it was a part-truth and only true for a season.

The truth is, God holds all things in his hands; he always has and he always will. And he granted control over all things to his Son, Jesus Christ. All things includes my family, my job, my reputation, my city, state, country, and world. Our whole universe. All things big and all things small! So in life, do I want to experience a taste of supernatural? Do I want to see God’s glory on this earth? I can if I submit to his Son, Jesus Christ. All of the fullness of God dwells in Jesus. He is the image of the invisible God. And the crazy, incredible thing is … he can work through me to accomplish all things! Thank you, Lord Jesus, for valuing a sinner like me and elevating me to a brother and front man for your kingdom. You reign in all that is life. I commit to letting you rein in my life too. Use me to accomplish your will today!
