I will sing of your love and justice; to you, Lord, I will sing praise. I will be careful to lead a blameless life— when will you come to me? I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart. I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it. The perverse of heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with what is evil. Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret, I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not tolerate. My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me.
Focus is a very important thing in life. A force to be reckoned with … is a godly-focused person. So what should I focus on in life? This Psalm gives me a pretty good list:
- Praising God for his love and faithfulness.
- Living a life without fault or sin. For who knows when he will return to me or call me into his service?
- Have a blameless heart.
- Hold the opinions of men suspect. Seek God’s blessing and approval.
- Keep perversity and vileness far from me.
- Do not be prideful or slander others in the comparison games of this life.
- Seek out, search intently for, and treasure those who have a good and faithful heart. They will be good friends and minister to me.
Now that I have my focus, I can also pick out those things which keep me from my focus.
Lord, I want to focus on modeling my life after you and being about your business in life. Help me not to lose focus, even when the wind and the waves seem to be crashing in. I will fix my eyes on you, the Author and Perfecter of my faith (Hebrews 12:2)!
