A “No Fly Zone” for Judgment‭‭ - II Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬-‭10

All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

--Parallel verses:
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭64‬:‭2‬-‭9‬
Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers. They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows. They shoot from ambush at the innocent; they shoot suddenly, without fear. They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say, “Who will see it?” They plot injustice and say, “We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the human mind and heart are cunning. But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down. He will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake their heads in scorn. All people will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.

Are you experiencing injustice in life? Have false rumors been spread about you? Has your food been taken from your kitchen while you sleep? Have greedy and evil men cost you years of work by their sabotage?

Paul, here, tells the Thessalonians to take heart. And the psalmist, King David, says to just wait and see the judgment of God.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wander into a “no fly zone” and have a foreign country attack you? Well, God has called out a “no fly zone” on the judgment of others for his followers on earth.

When I think of life from God’s perspective, and try to see his plans and purposes for our good, even in trials, I experience freedom. Freedom from the guilt, anger, bitterness, hardship and fear that hold so many back.

I must leave vengeance in the hand of the Lord. He will make the injustice right. He will bring about righteousness and truth. And those who lived by these standards will shine!

Lord, I see evil and the seeming constant advance of the wicked. Yet I also know they will be judged for rejecting you and living for themselves. Help me to show compassion to sinners and leave judgment in your hands.
