Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.
Teammates come in different shapes and sizes and at different maturities, as well. Leaders emerge, doubts wrestle, and the cause of Jesus Christ marches on. We see here a progression of faith: First, only the women who went to the tomb were faithful enough to investigate. Then, they were rewarded by Jesus visiting them and telling them to announce his return.
Next, the disciples have faith to meet Jesus in Galilee, some see him to believe. Others still doubted after seeing him, like Thomas. They must touch the scars on his hands.
Jesus is patient, yet he is not going to dumb down the standard of faith. Some come to faith quicker than others. Some have major obstacles to faith that must be removed. And others wrestle with their faith, riding the fence their whole lives.
Some are leaders in training. Others are faithful followers, and some are fans cheering others on.
Jesus loves them all and is patient to a point. But eventually they will become mastered by either the Devil and sin or Jesus. And judgment day or death is not on a human set timeline. So securing a strong faith is paramount to do soon.
My takeaway here is to submit to Jesus as Lord, repent of unbelief, and trust him wholeheartedly, without caution. Don’t remain a doubter.
Lord, thank you for your Word which sustains my faith. You showed up and were patient with your disciples and you are patient with me too. Yet you seek a firm faith, based on the Rock of our Salvation, Jesus Christ. When we are weak, we just need to seek you and ask and you will infuse our faith; recharge it, so to speak. Thank you for being a good and loving Father.
