Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story— those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
In business, when trying to gain a new client, salesmen will get to know the client’s leadership and their desires and needs. They will present the things about their firm and its people and/or products they feel are compelling, and then they ask for the business.
This process happens all around the world every day. And there are three things that make this process more effective: 1) a thankful and humble heart 2) a referral, and 3) testimonials.
I find here, in Psalm 107, a charge to thank the Lord! I am to thank him for his enduring love — his love endures forever! Praise you, Father!
When I thank God, I recognize that he is the source of my life, my blessings, and all that is good and right. Life becomes less about me and more about God and how I can serve others.
If I really love others, I will tell them my “God stories”. How has God shown up for me? How has he been faithful? What are the ways he has blessed me?
Life is difficult. It can be fun, and it is also oftentimes a challenge, even if we are living it with the right values, attitude, and heart. In our times of need, unlike the unbelieving, we have a relationship with a God we can cry out to as our Father. He hears our prayers for help. And in his timing, he answers.
He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things!
